*2027: APC Governors Reject Wike’s Rainbow Coalition, Deny Alliance Plans*

Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have distanced themselves from any form of coalition or alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that their loyalty remains fully with the APC.

The Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, PGF, and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, made the position known late Monday night in Abuja after a meeting of APC governors.

Uzodimma said the forum has not entered into any agreement with any individual or opposition bloc ahead of the polls.

The clarification comes amid moves by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who is championing a Rainbow Coalition movement in Rivers State in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Wike, a PDP chieftain serving in the APC-led Federal Government, had during a recent media chat alleged that Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and Governor Uzodimma were behind his political challenges.

According to him, this was due to the expanding national reach of his Rainbow Coalition, which he said was offering PDP members a platform to contest against APC governorship and senatorial candidates in 2027 — a development he claimed runs contrary to the interests of APC governors.

In what appeared to be a direct response to Wike’s comments and his growing political outreach across states, the APC governors said they would not be part of any arrangement that could cause confusion, divided loyalty, or competing interests within the ruling party.

Reading the communique after the meeting, Uzodimma stressed that the forum’s focus remains on supporting official APC candidates at all levels.

“The APC Governors Forum unanimously resolved that its members will not participate in, support or endorse any alliance or political arrangement capable of undermining the re-election of Mr. President, weakening the APC or adversely affecting any candidate of the party at all levels,” he said.

“In other words, the forum has no intention to support any candidate at any level that is not an APC candidate because our candidates who are contesting the election are being sponsored by our party.

“The governors’ campaign commitment is exclusively to all APC candidates. All levels of the party campaign architecture will align with the expectations of Mr. President and the strategic objectives of the party,” Uzodimma added.
