2023 Senatorial Primaries: PDP Aspirant Ugbome Assured Of Delegates' Support

A front line aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Edo North Senatorial District, Hon. Paschal Ugbome has said he is confident of emerging as the party’s flag bearer in the primaries scheduled for Monday, 23rd of May, 2022 at AUCHI , Edo State.


Speaking in an interview with the Independent Television,  ITV, Benin, Hon Paschal Ugbome said he was still in awe at the genuine, spontaneous outpouring of love and affection for him by the Afemai People who make up the Edo North Senatorial District.

Hon Ugbome said he appreciates the leaders and delegates of the PDP in Edo North Senatorial District for their unflinching support, the Senatorial aspirant for the 2023 election, said after accessing the support he has received from them,  he is convinced that he will get the party ticket.

He noted that he is among the few persons who have not dumped the  PDP since becoming a founding member of the party, even in the most difficult times. He said this was evidenced in the show of love for him during his tour of Edo North Senatorial District.

Hon Paschal Ugbome popularly called Ominimini of the Universe was a former State Vice Chairman as well as Director of Organisations and Operations of the Party at different times. Apart from the foregoing he said he has provided free legal services to the party and members over the years.

He said the constituents know that they can trust him and that just like they say in their local parlance, " the person you know during the day , u don't need a lamp to look for him in the night".

The front line PDP Edo North Senatorial District aspirant said his nomination would be a "referendum for reward for loyalty, steadfastness, accountability,  honesty, dignity and character".

Hon Ugbome who was a former Chief Whip of the Edo State House of Assembly and a former local government Chairman told the ITV reporter that his records are available for thorough screening , he highlighted some of his achievements as Etsako Local Government Chairman to include, offer of employment to over 250 persons,  and that as a dedicated Christian,  he has been a unifying factor and no acrimony can be traced to him either within or outside the People’s Democratic Party. Hon Paschal Ugbome said while he was a member of the Edo State House of Assembly in 1999, he was  the first to sponsor a bill that got passed and later became the Edo State House of Assembly Management Committee which later transformed to become  a commission.

Concluding, the Senatorial hopeful said he was using the opportunity of the interview to appreciate and thank the very wonderful people of Afemai land , who have supported his ambition and by so doing were sending a very strong message that, "when you are loyal, the people will be loyal to you".
