Nigeria’s Super Eagles under the tutelage of interim manager Austin Eguavoen this Saturday evening, September 7, 2024, started their Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign on a strong note.

Goals from reigning African Footballer of the Year Victor Osimhen and Ballon d’Or nominee Ademola Lokman ensured the demolition of the Cheetahs of Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
As the first half drew towards a close, Lookman broke the resistance of the Gernot Rohr boys.
Minutes after his introduction, Osimhen increased the tally in the 78th minute.

Excited fans were still chanting his name when Lookman struck again in the 82 minute to complete the rout and avenge their defeat by Benin in their last encounter in the World Cup qualifiers.
The Super Eagles will next Tuesday, September 10, take on hosts Rwanda in another AFCON qualifying match in Kigali.
