BREAKING: PDP, APC Protest Rivers Oct 5 LG Polls

Posted by: Quickresponse | October 3, 2024

Hundreds of protesters comprising members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have stormed the streets of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to warn against the move to conduct the October 5 local government election.

The stakeholders, who displayed various placards, converged on the PDP Secretariat in Port Harcourt and marched along the Azikiwe Road towards the Government House.

It was gathered that heavy and security patrols vans were deployed to monitor the protest.

Recall that barely 24 hours ago the Caretaker committee chairman of the APC, Tony Okocha in a press conference had insisted that the polls would not hold, pointing out that the whole process was shredded in illegalities.
Also with the PDP, the state chairman, Chukwuemeka Aaron in a press conference a few days ago stated that the party will not partake in the election because there is an existing legal battle barring the entire process.
