Diphtheria Outbreak Kills 500 People In Kano State

A total of 500 people have died from Diphtheria infection in Kano State, North-West Nigeria from December 2022 to September 24, 2023.
Records show that there are 116 active infections currently on admission in in the State that has so far confirmed 695 out of 9,269 suspected cases across the 44 local government areas.


Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran, told journalists while giving updates on the outbreak that arrangements are being finalised for conduct of mass Diphtheria vaccination campaign in Kano state.
