Farotimi Gets N30 Million Bail, Trial Set For February 2025

Posted by: Quickresponse | December 20, 2024

Human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi has been granted a N30 million bail by a Magistrate Court in Ekiti State with two sureties.
Abayomi Adeosun, the magistrate, also ruled that he must hand over his international passport and prohibited the defendant from conducting any interviews related to the case.
Adeosun also expressed frustration over the case’s increasing demands on court resources, acknowledging its strain on the judicial system as he fixed the commencement of trial on February 13, 2025.

Farotimi’s counsel also said the defendant’s international passport has already been deposited at the Federal High Court, as requested. They were instructed to obtain an official extract from the Federal High Court registrar to ensure the proper handling of the document in the lead-up to the trial.
