I Never Threaten Peter Obi - Gov Okpebholo

Posted by: Quickresponse | July 20, 2025

The Edo State Government has clarified that Governor Monday Okpebholo's recent remarks about Peter Obi's visit were not a threat, but an emphasis on the need for high-profile individuals to seek security clearance before public engagements in the state.

As Chief Security Officer, the Governor is responsible for public safety, and ignoring these protocols creates security risks, especially given the rise in attacks and abductions of religious leaders in the state.

The government also advised discretion in public donations to religious institutions for security reasons, citing biblical wisdom.

They stressed that the Governor's concerns should not be politicized, and that he is committed to a safe Edo State, expecting all leaders to follow established security protocols.
