Kano Withdraws 14 Journalists From Govt House

The Kano state government has withdrawn accreditation to 14 journalists assigned to cover its activities for their organizations.
A message sent to affected reporters by the spokesman to the State Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, directed journalists to return to their respective organizations for replacement.
The 14 journalists include directors, producers, and cameramen from government-owned and private media organisations.
Meanwhile, no official reason was given for their withdrawal but some of the affected journalists said they had disagreements with the government media managers over issues of privileges.
The reporters said they were banned from covering Gov. Abba Yusuf’s condolence visit to Jigawa last week when a petrol tanker exploded in the state.
They reportedly resisted security agents at the Jigawa Government House who restricted them from covering the governor and his host, Gov. Umar Namadi.
