Oborevwori Opposes Admission Of Omo-Agege’s Documents At Tribunal

Posted by: Quickresponse | June 24, 2023

COUNSEL to Delta Governor, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, Samson Egege, has opposed the admission of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) report and 289 other documents tendered by the APC governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, at yesterday’s hearing at the Delta state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

Egege, who objected to the admissibility of the documents, said the details of his objection will be in his clients’ final written address. Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is challenging the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of Sheriff Oborevwori as winner of the March 18 Delta gubernatorial poll. Tribunal Chairman, Justice C.I Ahuchaogu, admitted the documents as exhibits and marked them accordingly.

Joined in petition EPT/DL/GOV/03/23 are Independent National Electoral Commission (1st respondent), Governor Sheriff Oborevwori (2nd respondent) and People Democratic Party (PDP) (3rd respondent).

Amongst documents objected to by Oborevwori are results of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) report for 5,859 polling units, voter register, Certificate of compliance of the BVAS result, receipts of payment for BVAS report, Voter register and forms EC8A (143), EC8B (35), EC8C (25) , EC8D (1) and EC8E (1).

Counsels to INEC, Prof G.E Abugu and PDP Ekeme Ohwovoriole (SAN), also opposed the admissibility of the documents except EC8E which pertained to the declaration of results by INEC. But APC counsel, Kenneth Omoruan Esq, said the petitioner filed a schedule of documents on 20/01/23 for the documents tendered. He said documents tendered were in compliance with Section 84 of the Evidence Act.
Justice Ahuchaogu adjourned the matter to July 6th and 10th for continuation of hearing, after APC counsel, made an oral application for adjournment.
