Four students of the Delta State University, DELSU, Abaraka, and five other persons have been reportedly abducted by gunmen, Saturday along the Abraka Eku express way.

The student Union Government in a press release issued on Tuesday called on the state government and relevant security agencies to intervene and secure the release of their course mates from their abductors who are demanding the sum of five million naira as ransom.

The SUG however blamed the state government for not acting on the series of reports and official complaints made over the growing spate of insecurity on the Abaraka Eku express way.

According to the statement, this abduction of students is becoming too frequent.

The abducted students have been identified as Arogbo Harriet, Azunobi Prosper, Miracle Robert all 500 level students of the department of chemistry, while Aghogho Happiness is also a 500 level student of Electrical Engineering.

At the time of this report the Delta state police command is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
