Tinubu Writes National Assembly ForÂ Â Approval For Military Action Against Niger Coup Plotters

PresidentÂ Â Bola Tinubu has written to the Nigerian Senate, on Thursday, asking for approval to enable him go to Niger Republic with military might and restore peace in the troubled country.
Tinubu, as the Head of the Economic Community ofÂ Â WestÂ Â AfricanÂ Â States, ECOWAS, is seeking approval from the Senate to execute the proposed military action and other sanctions against the military officers for seizing power recenty in the Niger Republic.
The letter was read on the floor of the Upper Chamber by the President of the Senate,Â Â SenatorÂ Â GodswillÂ Â Akpabio.Â
The letter read, â€œPolitical situation in Niger.Â
â€œFollowing the unfortunate political situation in the Niger Republic culminating in the overthrow of its President, ECOWAS under my leadership condemned the coup in its entirety and resolved to seek the return of the democratically elected govt. in a bid to restore peace, ECOWAS convened a meeting and came out with a communique.Â
â€œClosure and monitoring of all land borders with the Niger Republic and reactivating of the border drilling exercise.
â€ Cutting off Electricity supply to the Niger RepublicÂ
â€ Mobilizing international support for the implementation of the provisions of the ECOWAS communique
â€œPreventing the operation of commercial and special flights into and from Niger RepublicÂ
â€œBlockade of goods in transit to Niger especially from Lagos and eastern seaports
