6th Nigerian Diaspora Investment Summit: Dabiri-Erewa Lauds Successes Of Pitchings*

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has described the Investment Summit since its inception, as living up to its expectations of attracting Diaspora investment into local businesses in Nigeria, recording over 5,000 participants, 900 business links and over 200 closed deals.Dabiri-Erewa stated this during her remarks at the Pitching Sessions Plenary of the 6th Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit holding in Abuja.“This summit serves as an innovative platform for the Federal Government to engage the diaspora in repositioning the economy and attracting investment into local businesses and thus enhancing Foreign Direct Investment in the country,” she stated.This year’s theme: *New Vistas, New Aspirations, New Opportunities: The Diaspora and National Development* aims to demonstrate how engaging the Diaspora is an effective and sustainable strategy for attracting inward investment into the emerging diversified Nigerian economy.Earlier, Dr. Badewa Adejugbe-Williams, the Coordinator of the Investment Summit stated that it has been running for the sixth time, recording huge success stories.Williams underlined that Nigeria is at a critical state where it has a new political administration; and therefore, enjoined all Nigerians, home and abroad, to positively rewrite the economic and financial scenarios of the country.She commended Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, for her consistent support and hope for another productive engagement.The Irish Ambassador to Nigeria, Amb.Peter Ryan, described the Diaspora as a treasure of talents to be harnessed for economic development.Ryan stressed on the need to encourage the Diaspora while expressing his keen and enthusiastic interest to connect with Nigeria.“Nigeria is a very important Nation and I am grateful to the Nigerian Community in Ireland. We are open to enhancing our commitment and engagement with Nigeria for the benefit of both Nations”, he added.Specifically, this hybrid Summit focuses on the following sectors: Healthcare; Education; Agribusiness; Creative, Entertainment & Sports; Telecommunication; ICT/Fintech; Manufacturing; Real Estate, with pitchers showcasing investment opportunities available in each sector and the development framework put in place to make investing in Nigeria more attractive to Nigeria Diaspora investors.
