Frontline Civil Society Organisation, Centre for Public Accountability (CPA) has debunked and described as baseless, allegations levied against Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State by a purported Network of Civil Society Organisations.

CPA is statement issued in Akure, Ondo State capital on Sunday, signed by its Information Officer, Oluwatobi Johnson said the allegation, by the group which claim political intimidation, recruitment, and deployment of thugs to harass opponents within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), are nothing short of a sponsored campaign of calumny against the Governor. “These accusations emerge from a phantom network, seemingly orchestrated by individuals with vested interests, particularly those who are increasingly jittery amidst the soaring popularity of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa among APC members and the entirety of Ondo State.” the statement said.

The group further said “it is evident that these false allegations are strategically timed, coinciding with the forthcoming governorship primary of the APC, scheduled for April 2024. It is no secret that Governor Aiyedatiwa's unwavering commitment to good governance and his remarkable achievements in the short time of being in office, have garnered significant support from the people of Ondo State and members of the APC. As a result, those with vested interests, are resorting to underhanded tactics in a feeble attempt to tarnish his reputation and undermine his growing influence.”

“We, therefore, advise those behind this orchestrated smear campaign to desist from their malicious actions and accept the reality of Governor Aiyedatiwa's increasing popularity and impendig victory, in the forthcoming APC Primary. The people of Ondo State have continue to speak through their unwavering support for Governor Aiyedatiwa, and no amount of false accusations can detract from his stellar record of service and dedication to the welfare of the people.”

The group further reminded, those he described as desperate politicians, that “Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is a peace-loving individual with an impeccable track record, devoid of any involvement in dirty politics or violence. His leadership has been characterized by inclusivity, and a steadfast commitment to the advancement of Ondo State.”

“The CPA stands firm, with the people of Ondo State, in their support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and urges the public to disregard these baseless allegations. We call on all well-meaning individuals and organizations to join us in condemning this shameful attempt to smear the reputation of a dedicated public servant.” the statement concluded
