...Prepares him for university admission
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has been encouraged with the educational performance of Chigozie Godstime, inspiring him even more to ensure that he gets every support to excel in tertiary education.
The Governor's recent upbeat feeling derives from Chigozie's result in the West African School Certificate Examination in which he scored three As, four Bs and two Cs.
Chigozie also performed remarkably well in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examination in which he put in to study for a Law Degree at the Delta State University.
Secretary of the Sheriff Oborevwori Foundation Scholarship Committee, Freeborn Eghagha, revealed that Chigozie has been entered for the Post UTME in which they are optimistic that he will also perform well to merit admission.
It is recalled that Chigozie Godstime, a native of Ebonyi State, was a victim of child abuse while living with his uncle in Osubi, and was rescued by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, in 2018 and taken in to be cared for, then as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly.
This saw the Governor parenting and catering for him to ensure his psychological recovery, and subsequently sending him to the full boarding, at Good Shepherd Catholic Boys' Secondary School, Oyede, where he steadily distinguished himself academically.
While completing his Senior Secondary School, Chigozie sat for the 2024 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination and came out with good results which will now enable him to begin his tertiary education, marking another milestone in his life journey.
Excited by the development, the Governor further approved a full university scholarship award for him through his personal charity organisation, Sheriff Oborevwori Foundation.
Talking with journalists at his graduation ceremony from secondary school, Chigozie was full of gratitude to Gov Oborevwori and his family as well as the Sheriff Oborevwori Foundation, for their love and care.
"I am elated to arrive at this point in my life and education. I cannot thank Daddy (Sheriff Oborevwori) enough for his love and care. May God bless him and continue to lift him higher and higher.
"I also thank the management of the Foundation for their commitment towards my well being and development. I cannot forget how Uncle Freeborn Eghagha (Secretary of the Scholarship Committee) comes often to check on me and to take me home during holidays. I am really very grateful."
Asked about his future plans, he said he wants to read Law.
"My intention is to read Law in the university. Specifically, I want to specialize in Civil Rights Law to enable me defend those who are suffering various forms of oppression and abuse."
Eghagha confirmed that Chigozie has been registered for the Delta State University, Post UTME, hopefully he will be admitted into the Law Faculty.
"Chigozie has done very well in his WASCE. He has written JAMB and also done well. We have registered him for the DELSU Post UTME. That test is coming up soon. By God's grace, he is going to read Law in DELSU," he enthused.
