Governor Ortom has described the death of young Micheal Abounu as painful and very difficult for the family.

He said it is traumatising for parents to bury their children.

The Governor spoke Thursday, April 29th, 2022 at the funeral of the son of the deputy governor of Benue State, Engr Benson Abounu at Otukpo-Icho.

He said the gap created in the family by the demise of the young Abounu may be difficult to fill but advised them to accept it as the will of God who decides everything as he pleases.

Governor Ortom prayed God to grant the soul of Micheal Abounu eternal rest and advised the people to turn to God for them to enjoy the benefits of serving him.

Bishop of the Methodist Diocese of Otukpo, Right Reverend Oliver Abah in his message titled , "There is hope for the dead" declared that since de ath is designed by God, "It can come to anybody at anytime regardless of age."

Bishop Abah said, though at a young age, the death of Micheal had been programmed by God and admonished the people to get prepared so that when their time comes they would be rejoicing with the Almighty in heaven.

Governor Ortom led members of the Benue State Executive and Security Councils as well as other top government functionaries to witness the burial including a one-time Nigerian Ambassador to Mexico, Prof Iyorwuese Hagher.
