Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Tuesday made a minor cabinet reshuffle and announced the redeployment of the Commissioner for Sports Development, Barr. Christopher Green, to the Ministry of Justice as Attorney general and commissioner for justice in the State. This was contained in a statement signed by Dr Honour Sirawoo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications in Port Harcourt, Tuesday. The statement stated that that Barr Green would also continue to coordinate the activities of the Ministry of Sports pending the appointment of a substantive commissioner to oversee the ministry. It would be recalled that following the political crisis in the state, Fubara had dissolved the members of his cabinet that were affected by the Supreme Court judgement on the political crisis in the state. The development affected the then Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state. But the governor’s move to have an attorney general has moved Green, who was serving as Commissioner for Sports, to the Ministry of Justice as the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. The redeployment, which takes immediate effect, was approved at the last State Executive Council meeting for the year 2025, underscoring the governor’s commitment to strengthening governance, ensuring continuity in service delivery, and optimising the performance of key ministries within the state
