The statement credited to Hon. Demola Ijabiyi, in which he alleged that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is responsible for creating a crisis in the party is untrue, uncharitable and divisive.
Ijabiyi and his ilk had converged in Akure, on Wednesday, ostensibly to hold a pro-Tinubu meeting, whereas the same gathering was used to gratuitously attack the person of Governor Aiyedatiwa.
It is important to stress, for the umpteenth time, that Governor Aiyedatiwa pursues peace with all party leaders and members, accommodates all, listens to and holds party elders in esteem. The Governor neither discriminates nor harbours grudges against any person.
Specious allegations, such as this, are part of the ploys used by mischievous persons to drag the Governor's name into needless controversies and create unnecessary upsets in the party.
In a time when Governor Aiyedatiwa is investing so much in reconciliatory efforts towards uniting the party and repositioning it for better feats, it is unfortunate that Ijabiyi chose to lead a vanguard of apostates to frustrate the conciliatory moves.
If Ijabiyi and his allies truly mean well for the party, as elders are to do, they know better ways to reach the Governor on grey issues, knowing full well that the Governor is typically accommodating, cooperative and obliging.
Instead, he chose prejudice above the party's health and harmony, an attitude that is uncooperative and unbecoming of a party man of his status. Ijabiyi is, to this extent, advised to respect the party's ongoing placative endeavour instead of furthering fray within its ranks.
