The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has appealed to Nigerians living in France to remain calm, maintain peace and respect French laws amid current concerns affecting their communities.
This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday, October 29, 2026, in Abuja, by the Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit of NiDCOM, Abdur-Rahman Balogun.
According to the statement, Dabiri-Erewa called on Nigerians in France to exercise restraint, uphold public order and conduct themselves responsibly at all times.
She urged them to avoid confrontation, violence and provocation, and to cooperate peacefully with lawful instructions from French authorities.
The NiDCOM boss also advised Nigerians to follow verified safety guidance, desist from spreading rumours and unverified information, especially on social media, and to respect their neighbours and other communities irrespective of nationality, religion or background.
She emphasized that Nigerians in the diaspora are ambassadors of the country and have a shared responsibility to uphold Nigeria's image while respecting the laws and institutions of their host country.
Dabiri-Erewa further encouraged anyone whose safety or rights may be at risk to seek appropriate legal assistance and to contact relevant emergency or consular services.
She called on Nigerian community leaders, families, students, professionals and associations across France to spread the message of peace, unity and responsibility and to work together to maintain calm, caution and orderliness.
