The Ogbia United Front, a socio-cultural group, has clarified that the recent visit by an aspirant seeking to represent Ogbia Federal Constituency to former President Goodluck Jonathan GCFR should not be interpreted as a political endorsement.
In a statement, the group said Jonathan, as a former president and an Ogbia son, remains a father to all and is free to receive political aspirants for consultations, prayers and goodwill.
The group cautioned against interpreting photographs, handshakes or gestures during such meetings as evidence of endorsement, stressing that any endorsement by the Ogbia Kingdom and its traditional institutions would have to come through the appropriate traditional structures and be clearly declared.
Ogbia United Front further noted that the choice of representative would ultimately be determined by voters across the constituency’s polling units during the 2027 election, with the official result to be declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The group therefore urged political actors to respect Jonathan’s position as a father to all and avoid dragging his name into political narratives.
